What is glaucoma?
Glaucoma is a chronic eye disease that causes damage to the optic nerve and irreversible vision loss. It is the second leading cause of blindness in the world and is known as the “silent killer of vision” because early symptoms are usually subtle.
Why is regular screening necessary?
Everyone is advised to have periodic glaucoma screening as part of a comprehensive eye exam — especially if one or more risk factors are present.
Forms of glaucoma and their risk factors
Primary open-angle glaucoma
The most common form of the disease.
Risk factors:
Age > 60 years — incidence is six times more common.
Family history – the risk increases 4–9 times.
Steroid therapy — increases the risk by 40%.
General health condition (hypertension, diabetes, etc.).
Angle-closure glaucoma
Characteristic anatomically narrow structure of the anterior chamber angle.
Risk factors:

YAG⁄SLT laser platform Optimis Fusion
Main features
Combines traditional YAG photodestruction and advanced SLT photostimulation in one compact system.
Quantel Medical's patented dual-mode resonator generates infrared and green nanosecond pulses.
Premium optics: convergent light path, blue light filter for better visibility.
Convenient switching between SLT and YAG modes.
Advantages of SLT mode
No thermal tissue damage.
The procedure can be safely repeated.
Targets melanin-containing cells of the trabecular meshwork, initiating a healing response and improving fluid drainage.
The ideal choice for lowering IOP:
Soft, non-invasive effect.
Can be used as primary or adjuvant therapy.
There are no systemic side effects like medications.
